Creating Opportunities for the Future: Direct Homecare Hosts Year 12 Students from Swanlea School

At Direct Homecare, caring for people goes beyond the services we provide every day. We believe in creating a lasting social impact by supporting our local community, investing in young people, and helping prepare the workforce of tomorrow.

As part of this commitment, we were delighted to welcome Year 12 students from Swanlea School to our workplace for an engaging and interactive careers workshop. The day was designed to give students practical insights into the world of work while building their confidence and employability skills.

Helping Students Build Confidence

Our team delivered a series of hands-on sessions covering:

  • CV writing and how to stand out to employers
  • Interview techniques and preparation
  • Career pathways and workplace expectations
  • One-to-one mock interviews with personalised feedback
  • Open discussions about career journeys and professional development

By sharing our own experiences, challenges, and career stories, we aimed to show students that there are many different routes to success and that continuous learning is key to achieving their goals.

The Impact

The feedback from students was incredibly positive and demonstrated the value of providing real-world workplace experiences.

4.9/5 Overall Student Satisfaction

📊 100% of students said the workshop increased their understanding of the workplace and improved their knowledge of what employers are looking for during the recruitment process.

These results reinforce the importance of connecting education with industry and giving young people opportunities to develop essential employability skills before entering the world of work.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Following the workshop, we were honoured to receive a thank-you message from The Switch, recognising the positive impact of the visit.

They thanked our team for hosting the Year 12 students and highlighted how the experience gave pupils valuable insight into the workplace, helped them participate in mock interviews, and taught them how to create effective CVs. The feedback also noted the outstanding results of the event, including a 4.9 star student satisfaction rating and 100% positive learning outcomes.
