When I first joined Direct Homecare in 2020, I was stepping into something completely new. After working in A&E as an RGN, I was ready for a different kind of challenge—one that blended my clinical background with operational leadership. It was a big shift, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but it quickly became one of the most rewarding decisions of my career.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to support the organisation in achieving three CQC registrations and to witness our Homecare services grow stronger, more specialised, and more person-centred. Each milestone has reminded me why I chose this path: to help shape safe, effective, and compassionate care for people in their own homes.
In my current role as Registered Manager, my priority is leading and supporting my team so they can deliver the highest standards of care. One of the most fulfilling parts of this role is being involved in the full care journey—from carrying out the initial clinical assessment and meeting families, to developing truly personalised care plans. Helping someone return home after a hospital stay and seeing how tailored support can transform their wellbeing never loses its impact. There’s something incredibly special about enabling someone to live independently, safely, and with dignity.
What I love most about working in Homecare is the opportunity it gives people: the chance to enjoy life on their own terms while receiving care that meets their individual needs. That sense of independence and dignity is priceless.
Teaching has also become a huge passion of mine. Through this role, I’ve completed my Level 3 in Teaching, Level 5 in Leadership and Management, and my CPI Safety Interventions Instructor Course. Being able to deliver bespoke in-house training to our nurses and carers—and watching their confidence and clinical skills grow—is something that brings me immense satisfaction. It’s an area where I truly feel I excel.
I’m incredibly proud to be part of an industry that makes such a meaningful difference every single day. Supporting individuals in their own homes and empowering staff to thrive in their roles is a privilege, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that shares the same commitment to outstanding care.
