This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Tomas, our Recruitment Manager, whose dedication and expertise play a huge role in keeping our care teams strong, safe, and ready to deliver exceptional support.

 

"I started my career in construction recruitment and slowly found my way into healthcare, where I discovered that complex care was by far the most rewarding area to work in. Over time, I took on more responsibility around compliance, and that’s how I ended up in a combined recruitment and compliance manager role. This journey has helped me develop expertise in safer staffing, regulatory standards, and high-touch candidate engagement—skills that are essential in such a sensitive and highly regulated field.

 

What initially drew me into complex care was the impact. I wanted a career where the work genuinely makes a difference. In complex care, every placement directly affects someone’s quality of life, and that sense of purpose is what motivated me to stay in this sector.

 

No two days in my role look the same. My day normally includes speaking to candidates, managing compliance checks, reviewing files, and working closely with our care teams to ensure we have the right staff in place. The variety keeps the job interesting and engaging.

 

Of course, there are challenges. The hardest part is balancing urgency with strict compliance standards—things move fast in complex care, but they also have to be done safely. I stay organised, communicate clearly, and make sure everyone involved understands what’s needed to keep everything running smoothly.

 

Maintaining balance is important to me, especially in a fast-paced environment. I plan my day well, set boundaries where I can, and make sure I properly switch off after work. Having a routine outside of work helps me stay grounded… although my emails sometimes try to convince me otherwise!

 

At the end of the day, the impact is what matters most. Knowing that the work we do helps people and their families is the best part of the job. It’s challenging, fast-paced, but incredibly rewarding—and that’s why I’m proud to do what I do."
